I went through this with my oldest child...my daughter. Even before she started school, I knew that something just wasn't quite right with her ability to concentrate and learn specific things. It got worse every school year..I watched her change from a confident leader to a follower with a low self esteem. Like your son, she was finally blessed with a teacher who was able to help. She was diagnosed with ADD. It was hard to pick up on this because she didn't have the hyperactive part of it, but I KNEW. The Concerta was a miracle drug for her!
I am now homeschooling all three of my children...not because of her diagnosis, but for other reasons. It has changed our lives. I have watched her once again become the confident leader that she once was...it has taken time to undo what was done to her during those few years in school. We are all so happy.
Madison has chosen to not take her Concerta anymore. There are days when I wish that she would, but when I say something about her taking it, she works harder than ever to do what needs done to stay off of it. I'm not sure why she doesn't want to take it, but will respect her wishes. If she were in the school system, I wouldn't be able to do that, but we can now.
It sounds like your son is doing great at his school and that he now has so many helping him out. I think that's great...that he is learning to deal with those situations.
You are doing a great job and will be such a good voice for your son as well as so many others with his diagnosis/symptoms. I respect you for that.
Thanks for visiting OurPlace. I look forward to reading more about your family and getting to know you!Sherrihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02594907511544202220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6858259826507162249.post-45785169833026694012007-10-18T22:21:00.000-07:002007-10-18T22:21:00.000-07:00This comment has been removed by the author. Not You're Average Soccer Momhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14545093476616860056noreply@blogger.com
